Funeral services for Marilyn F. Deming, 70, Ponca City, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Free Union Church of Christ, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Memorial services were held at Hartford Avenue Church of Christ in Ponca City on Monday April 10, 2017.

Mrs. Deming passed away at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Alliance Health, Ponca City, Oklahoma.

She was born February 27, 1947, at West Plains, Missouri, to Charles Ralph Krause and Mary Alice Barrett Krause.  Marilyn graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1965 and attended Draughon Business University in Springfield, Missouri.  On August 25, 1973, she was married at Fresno, California, to Douglas Deming. She worked briefly at a television station in Springfield doing news broadcasts and always said this was her favorite work.  From 1966 to 1970, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in both California and Missouri.  She worked at both the Mark Twain National Forest and Yosemite National Park. During this time she co-starred in commercials for the Forest Service with Smokey the Bear!  In 1972 she began her career with the Social Security Administration from which she retired after 30 years of service in 2002. Upon retirement, she visited her daughter, Jolyn, in Japan for 2 weeks.  It was only time she traveled outside of the United States and was a memory she often talked of fondly.

Marilyn was the best wife, mother and grandmother; she loved the Lord and took care of everyone she knew.  She loved to garden, cook for her family and was an amazing seamstress.  Mrs. Deming loved her animals, and puppies, Roxie and Buddie.    Mrs. Deming was a member of Hartford Avenue Church of Christ for twenty years.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Louie Douglass Deming whom she had been married to for over 40 years, her son Ralph Douglass “R.D.” Deming, her daughter Mary Jolyn Bauer, her son-in-law Thomas Corbin Bauer, and her granddaughters Mary Kaitlyn Bauer (age 10) and Audrey Elyse “Ellie” Bauer (age 6).

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Ralph Krause and Mary Alice Barrett.

She was the greatest example of love and faithfulness that we had in our lives.  Every day that she was with us was another chance for her to be an example of how you love completely, forgive quickly and lean on Christ in all things.

We are comforted by the knowledge of her being reunited with her mother and father, and smile at the thought of how her heart must have leapt knowing she was crossing that beautiful river to go home.

Mrs. Deming will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Free Union Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Marilyn F. Deming Memorial Fund to help with expenses and needs at this time, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.robertsondrago.com.
