Warren H. Ward

Graveside services for Warren H. Ward, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Howell Valley Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Ward died 11:15 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017 at Brooke Haven HealthCare.  He was born July 28, 1923 at Palometa, Arkansas to Groce Ward and Minnie Warren Ward.  On July 24, 1946, Mr. Ward was married at Flint, Michigan to Lyda May Marr who preceded him in death on February 23, 1997.  On June 27, 1998, he was married at West Plains, Missouri to Edna Reeves Boyer.  Mr. Ward was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in the invasion of North Africa and later served in Iran hauling supplies to Russia. In 1985, Mr. Ward retired as a machinist from Southwest Truck Body; in 1998, he became the grounds keeper at the West Plains Country Club and later went to work at the West Plains Municipal Golf Course as its grounds keeper, retiring in 2008.  He loved to take care of his yard, making a garden, and enjoyed hunting and fishing;  family was important to him, especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Ward was a member of the First Christian Church and had attended the First Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Edna Ward, of the family home; one daughter, Shirley Dawson,  husband, Bruce, West Plains, Missouri; step-daughter, Rosemarie Chun, Campus, Washington; step-son, Fred Boyer, Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

His parents, first wife, son, Gaylord Ward; three brothers and one sister, precede him in death.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or St. Judes Children’s Hospital and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
