Shirley Ann Wright

A Celebration of Life service for Shirley Ann Wright, 81, West Plains, Missouri, will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the home of Doreen and Jay Cromer, 4111 Private Road 6320, West Plains.

 

Mrs. Wright passed away on June 1, 2017.

 

She was born February 7, 1936, in London, England, to Charles Dennis Thomas and Emma Victoria Saward Thomas.  With World War II ending, Shirley along with her mother, whom was widowed during the war, her new step-father, Benton Dickerson, an American Soldier, and her siblings, Charlie, Victoria, Doris and Violet, made their way to America.  They started their new life on Benton’s farm in Holiday, Missouri.  Her mother and stepfather had two sons, Tom and Dennis Dickerson.  Shirley was married to Glenwood Wright and to their union three children were born.  After her marriage ended in divorce, Shirley moved to Centralia, Missouri where she worked at 3M Company in Columbia until her retirement.  She moved to West Plains, Missouri to be closer to her children and remained there until her death.  Mrs. Wright enjoyed family, her grandchildren and her very special cat and companion, Tootsie.  She was a Christian, enjoyed music, lifetime movies and was a big Cardinals fan.

 

She is survived by three children, Doreen Cromer and husband, Jay, West Plains, Tony Wright, West Plains and Traci Leach and husband, Brad, Lexington, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Josh Rothove, Jake Rothove and wife, Nicki, Jeremiah Rothove, Nathan Wright, Nolan Wright, Autumn Selby, Hunter Leach and Tanner Leach; six great-grandchildren, Jacey, Briella, Mayson, Raylee Dale Rothove, Troy Ford and Fynlee Clark; two sisters, Victoria Ancell and Violet Winn; two brothers, Dennis Dickerson and Tom Dickerson; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Her parents, one brother, Charles Thomas and one sister, Doris Block, precede her in death.
