Karen Slavings

Funeral services for Karen Lynn Slavings, 60, Caulfield, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Bakersfield Pavilion, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Slavings passed away at 12:04 p.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri.

 

She was born September 4, 1957, at Lockwood, Missouri, to Bailey Leon Hill and Rosemary James Hill.  On December 29, 1973, she was married at Bakersfield, Missouri, to Steve Slavings.  Mrs. Slavings was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bakersfield where she was a youth Sunday school teacher for thirty-one years.  She operated a fireworks stand for many years; she enjoyed singing and watching her grandkids play sports.  Karen loved her family, her many friends and her community.

 

She is survived by her husband, Steve Slavings, of the family home; three children, Heather Smith and husband, Robert, Udall, Missouri, Heath Slavings and wife, Shanna, Webb City, Missouri and Jordan Slavings and wife, Diana, Mountain Home, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Nautica, Callie, Blaine, Bryndale, Milo and Henry; two brothers, Terry Leon Hill and wife, Vicki and Jerry Hill and wife, Vickie, all of Highlandville, Missouri; one sister, Amber Henry and husband, Rodney, Nixa, Missouri; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends, Lynda Smith and Susie Green.

 

Her parents, one nephew and one great-niece, preceded her in death.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Bakersfield Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Bakersfield Food Pantry and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
