A Memorial Service for James Lowell “Hondo” Haun, 58, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Hawkins Ridge Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Haun passed away at 2:45 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at West Vue Nursing Center.
He was born December 22, 1958, at Orrville, Ohio, to Delmar and Edna Keim Haun. He grew up in Orrville, attended school there and in his senior year was instrumental in helping the baseball team make it to the final state championship game. James loved to watch all kinds of sports on TV, even golf. After high school he joined the United States Army National Guard and served for six years. He married his first wife, Debbie Yoder with whom he had two children, a son, Jason M. Haun and a daughter, Kristin T. Haun Dixon. James moved to Missouri over twenty years ago and made Bakersfield his home; he was self-employed in construction and his work can be seen throughout Arkansas and Missouri. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman with great success at both. He apparently inherited some of his mother, Edna’s gardening skills, as his yard was full of blooms in Spring, Summer and Fall; he was so proud of it. James was a Christian and was ready to leave his pain stricken body behind to receive his eternal heavenly one.
He is survived by two children, Jason M. Haun and Kristin T. Haun Dixon, both of Richmond, Indiana; two grandchildren, Hunter W. Dixon and Kylee N. Dixon; his father, Delmar D. Haun, Orrville, Ohio; one sister, Debbie Barnes, Orrville, Ohio; one brother, Rick Haun and wife, Cathy, Shawnee, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including Donnie and Brenda Carter and Ronnie Mullins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Ruth Keim Haun.
Hondo will be missed by many and will forever be in our hearts.
A private burial will be in the Hawkins Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hawkins Ridge Cemetery and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.robertsondrago.com.
