Madeline Hilburn

Graveside services for Madeline Hilburn, 92, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Hilburn passed away at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at West Vue Nursing Center.

 

She was born May 4, 1925, at Dora, Missouri, to William Marion Dobbs and Ella Moffis Dobbs.  On October 7, 1943, she was married at Great Bend, Kansas, to Cecil Eugene “Gene” Hilburn, who preceded her in death on January 15, 2000.  She held a Bachelor’s degree and was an Education Specialist; before her retirement, Mrs. Hilburn was a teacher for West Plains R-7 School.  As a teacher she was also involved with many activities, including the Speech and Debate Team and the F.F.A. Speech Team and was a past member of Missouri Fox Trotter Association.  Mrs. Hilburn loved painting and playing bingo.

 

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Norma Hilburn and one granddaughter, Andi Vaini and husband, Marc, all of West Plains, Missouri.

 

Her parents, husband, son, Larry Hilburn, one brother, Buford Dobbs and one sister, Mildred Thornton, preceded her in death.

 

Mrs. Hilburn will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
