James Raymond Denton

Funeral services for James Raymond Denton, 75, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Denton passed away at 6:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 18, 1943, at Monterey, California, to James Isaac Denton and Pearl Rogers Denton.  James attended school at Monterey, California.  Mr. Denton was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict; he served his country for ten years.  On June 27, 1980, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Imogene Jones.  He worked as a carpenter and contractor, was a life time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge at Thayer, Missouri.  James’ last wish was to see his last great-granddaughter, Mia; that wish came to be on March 24.   His family was important to him and always came first; he was a kind and Godly man and never met a stranger.  Mr. Denton was a member of Mammoth Spring First Baptist Church, which he helped build.

 

He is survived by his wife, Imogene Denton, of the family home; four children, Brenda Dunn and husband, Gary, West Plains, Pam Coffman and husband, Larry, West Plains, Sandy Johnson and husband, Tim, West Plains and Danny Cobb and wife, Sharon, Peace Valley, Missouri; six grandchildren, Justin Hicks and wife, Jennifer, West Plains, Lacey Coffman Galvan and husband, Josh, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Zachary Cobb and friend, Samantha, Glencoe, Arkansas, Lance Coffman and wife, Kristina, St. Joe, Arkansas, Henry Cobb, Peace Valley, Missouri and Patrick Cobb, Peace Valley, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Gray, Lane Hicks and Mia Galvan; one great-nephew, A. J. Myers and wife, Heather and their two children of Lincoln, Nebraska.

 

His parents, one sister, Sharon Myers and her husband, George and one nephew, Keith Myers, preceded him in death.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Masonic Rites will be given at 5:30 p.m., prior to Visitation. Burial will be in the Bennett Chapel Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
