Dorothy Lee Willard

Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Willard, 88, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Willard passed away at 5:27 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at NHC Healthcare.

She was born November 4, 1929, at Osage City, Kansas, to Charles Voorhis and Pearl Stadter Voorhis.  Dorothy graduated from West Plains High School in 1946.  From there she traveled to Springfield to further her education at Southwest Missouri State College.  She returned to the West Plains area where she taught for two years at Hopewell School.  Dorothy met George Willard after he returned from WWII; they married June 11, 1949 and to this union three children were born, Steven James, Patricia Elaine and Sherry Lee.  Dorothy loved her family with all she had, always placing their needs before hers.  After retirement, she enjoyed camping at bluegrass festivals with her husband and her many, many friends.  Dorothy also enjoyed hand piecing quilts and could make the best hot rolls around.  Mrs. Willard was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Liberty, Missouri, for forty-one years before moving back to West Plains in 1993.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, George Willard; two daughters, Patricia Elaine Willard and Sherry Lee (Willard) McBride and husband, Rick; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Willard; eight grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Her parents, one son, Steven James Willard and one sister, Ethel Willard, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
