Jerry Allen Lair

Funeral services for Jerry Allen Lair, 79, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Langston Street Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Lair passed away at 6:20 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home. 

He was born September 25, 1939 at Hocomo, Missouri to Carl Marion Lair and Ruby May Kenslow Lair.  He graduated from the Bakersfield High School with the Class of 1957 and on July 9, 1960 was married at Caulfield, Missouri to Sue Harper.  Before his retirement, Mr. Lair had been employed was a welder and had done heavy equipment repair.  He loved his work and working with Bob Daniel; also, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing in their many ball games and other activities.  Mr. Lair was a member of the South Fork Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Lair, of the family home; three children, Sherrie Guffey and husband, Danny, South Fork, Missouri, Bruce Lair and special friend, Brandi Smith, Hocomo, Missouri and Carla Harris and special friend, Tim Cates, West Plains, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Sheray Willard and husband, Caleb, Alicia Pulley and husband, David, John Harris and wife, Emily, Heath Guffey and wife, Sherri, Brooke Lair, Austin Lair and wife, Tamara, Cayden Lair, Jared Cates and wife, Casey and Taylor Smith;  eight great-grandchildren, Audra, Jewelia, Abbigail, Case, Georgia, Finley, McKayla and Asa; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Lair, Lenore Frazier, Jeanna Morris and husband, Steve and Sharon Moore and husband, David; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bob Daniel, David Griffith and Rod and Terry Hammond; and neighbors, Jerry and Peggy Plachy.

His parents, one brother, Eddie Joe Lair, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Elsie Harper, son-in-law, Randy Harris, brothers-in-law, Ray Rhine, Glenn Harper, Dallas Frazier and J. T. Wells and sisters-in-law, Kay Rhine, Adie Wells and Lois Harper, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 4th, at the Langston Street Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Amy Cemetery near Hocomo, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
