Hazel Ruth Thomas

A memorial service for Hazel Ruth Thomas, 80, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Pottersville Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Thomas passed away 9:30 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2020 at her home.

 

She was born January 18, 1940, at E. St. Louis, Illinois, to Hayden Rhodes and Bertha Wheeler Rhodes.  On April 7, 1978, she was married at Las Vegas, Nevada, to Daniel Lee Thomas, who preceded her in death on January 25, 2019.  Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a retired mail carrier.  She enjoyed flowers, going to the ocean, birds, singing and spending time with her grandkids.  Hazel loved yard sales and was an avid Cardinals fan.  She enjoyed her lunches at the West Plains Senior Center, visiting with her many friends.  Mrs. Thomas loved the Lord and was a member of Pottersville Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by six children, Susan Reynolds and husband, Kenny, Bakersfield, California, Peggy Moon, Denton, Texas, Laura Traffanstedt, West Plains, Del Traffanstedt and wife, Charmaine, Odessa, Texas, Brandon Thomas, St. Louis, Missouri and Roseanna Tackitt and husband, Paul, Caulfield, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, James, Lisa, Kimberly, Crystal, Danny, Jordan, Oliver, Mariah, Taylor, Tyson, Mary, Connie, Seth, Matthew, Rayna, Suzy, Jessie, Jaron and Skyla; sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Will “Dusty” Rhodes and wife, Joan, West Plains; two sisters, Virginia “Sandy” Arroyo, Vacaville, California and Linda Schmidt and husband, Mike, Brownsville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Her parents, husband, two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and two sisters, Pat Herchenroeder and Roberta Blake, preceded her in death.

 

A private burial will be in the Fowler Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pottersville Baptist Church and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.robertsondrago.com.
