Roger Long

Roger Long

Roger Dean Long of Howards Ridge, MO was born on November 16, 1943 in Belle Plaine, IA to Harry and Donna (Hughes) Long. He passed from this life on December 18, 2020 in Mtn Home, AR at the age of 77.

Roger was saved and baptized at age 13. He was of the Baptist faith. Roger was a United States Navy veteran and a retired tool and die machinist. After retirement, he moved to the Pontiac, MO area and became a general handy man for the Morgan family, with whom he began a long-time friendship.

In December of 1996 he met Lanell Lewis and after dating for many years, were married on a boat, on the ocean, in Florida where they truly loved to be. They enjoyed many wonderful adventures together traveling, visiting friends and bargain hunting. Roger was a rock hound and loved searching for rocks, attending rock shows and making beautiful jewelry. He loved to garden and when he finally realized that the soil/clay in these Ozarks hills was different from rich Iowa farm dirt, he had quite an orchard and vineyard growing. Roger enjoyed fishing and acting goofy with his grandkids and just tinkering around. He wore many hats and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one brother; and his only son, Dusty. He is survived by his wife Lanell of the home; granddaughter Cheyenne Lawson of Conroe, TX; stepchildren Rex Lewis and Barb of Mtn Home, AR, Rhonda Newton and Terry of Dora, MO, Tim Lewis and Janie of Mtn Home, AR, Cari Lewis and Dan of Baileys Harbor, WI; nine step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters; special friends Tim and Johnna Morgan; and a host of family and friends.

No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
