Deborah Diane (Shomaker) Dorris

Deborah Diane (Shomaker)  Dorris, daughter of the late Floyd and Evylene (Baugher) Shomaker, was born April 21, 1958 in Winona, Missouri.

She departed this life on December 26, 2020 in Springfield, Missouri at 8:47 a.m.  She had attained the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 5 days.

On September 13, 1980, she was united in marriage to Tom Dorris in Van Buren, Missouri. To this union one child was born, Angela.

She worked in a few factories and as a cook over the years, but she was mostly a homemaker. She devoted her life to taking care of her mom and her daughter. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, planting flowers, cooking and talking on the phone with her sisters. She loved spending time with her family.  The highlight of her life was when she became a grandma. She shared that title for many years with her sister’s grandchildren before she had her own. She was always available to give advice, remember recipes, or just talk to those that needed her. She was a faithful, compassionate, and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and most of all the best grandma ever. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Tom Dorris, of Mountain View, MO; daughter, Angela O’Dell and husband, Bradley, of Mountain View, MO; grandchildren, Destiny and Noah O’Dell of Mountain View, MO; sisters, Nettie Goodin and husband, Jim, of Lucedale, MS, Glendola McAfee of Winona, MO, and Marsha Bourland of West Plains, MO; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Shomaker of Salem, IL and Kathy Shomaker of Winona, MO; brothers, Danny Shomaker and wife, Susan, of New Douglas, IL, Junior Shomaker of Hoyelton, IL;  and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin grandbabies, and eight siblings, Tresa Hayes, Judy Haxton, Jim Shomaker, Edna Chronister, Kenny Shomaker, Ronnie Shomaker, Wilma Richardson, and James Shomaker.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri with Pastor Rodney Fisher officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.  Interment will be in Pinelawn Cemetery, Winona, Missouri.  Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
