Funeral services for Verneal Ball Lewis, 98, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lewis passed away at 4:39 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2021, at West Vue Nursing Center.
She was born November 21, 1922, in Howell County, Missouri, to Forrest and Jessie Hardin Hoglen. Verneal graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1941. On May 14, 1941, she was married at Hoxie, Arkansas, to Aaron Ball, who preceded her in death on August 5, 1990. On June 10, 2002, she was married to Doyle Lewis, who preceded her in death in 2016. She had been a member of the Lebo Community Club, the Mizpah Rebekah Lodge #77 and the Helping Hand Club of Moody. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Ruth Munday Sunday School Class of West Plains.
She is survived by three children, Larry G. Ball and wife, Carol, Vanzant, Missouri, Brenda Wilson, Springfield, Missouri and Barry Ball and wife, Judy, West Plains; one step-son, Steve Lewis; four grandchildren, Ron Ball, Kevin Wilson, Greg Ball and Jodi Ball; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Cecil Hoglen and one brother-in-law, Bob Sigman.
Her parents, husbands, two brothers, Kenneth Hoglen and Hubert Hoglen and wife, Jewel, three sisters, Arlene Sigman, Ruth Fritz and Faye Ellen Hoglen, two nieces, Pamela and Wanda and one step-daughter, Geline Lewis, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lewis will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday. Burial will be in the Moody Cemetery.
