Guy Charles Johnston

Funeral services for Guy Charles Johnston, 84, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Pottersville Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Johnston passed away at 11:50 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2022, at his home.

 

He was born May 13, 1937 at Hawkins Ridge, Missouri, to Surl Johnston and Vera Delarm.  On August 30, 1958, he was married at Viola, Arkansas to Betty Brown.  Mr. Johnston was a carpenter.  He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He loved his knives and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He especially loved his family and enjoyed the family coming to Sunday dinner.  Mr. Johnston was saved at the age of seventy-five, and was a member of Pottersville Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the family home; four children, Sonja McKee and friend, Steve Hall, Glenco, Arkansas, Randy Johnston and wife, Linda, Bakersfield, Missouri, Brian Johnston and wife Suzanna, Pottersville, Missouri, and Brandon Johnston and wife, Anna, Bakersfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Jeremy McKee and wife Kasey, Caulfield, Missouri, Kirsten Jarvis and husband, Jeremy, Pottersville, Missouri, Drew McKee and wife, Kristen, Caulfield, Missouri, Chelsea Johnston, Bakersfield, Missouri, Clayton Johnston and wife, Johannah, Pottersville, Missouri, Adrian Johnston and friend, Chris, Mountain Home, Arkansas, Hunter Johnston and friend, Lee Etta, Jonesboro, Arkansas, Gracie Johnston and friend, Alex, Viola, Arkansas, and Arlyn Johnston, Bakersfield, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Tate McKee, Londyn McKee, Bryton Jarvis, Eli Jarvis, Willow McKee, Hallie McKee, Josie McKee, and Hadley Johnston; one brother, Freddy Johnston and wife, Tina, Bakersfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

 

His parents, step-father, Fred Johnston, one son, Terry Brown, twin grandsons, Lance and Colby McKee, and two sisters, Vivian Crotts and Bonnie Cunningham, preceded him in death.

 

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, in the Rose Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Bakersfield Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO  65775.
