Norma Joyce James

Norma Joyce James, daughter of Luther Page and Pearlie (Freeman) Page, was born July 7, 1939, in “Hickman Hollow” in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life, December 3, 2023, at Cox South Medical Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 26 days.

On July 12, 1955, she was united in marriage to Charles A. James and to this union seven children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Burton and Mable (Bordener) James; three sons, Joe, Jim, and Mack James; daughter, Debra James; grandson, Jeremy Kelly; great-grandsons, Trevor White and Ronny Sawyers III; sisters, Nancy Hopper and Maxine King; brothers, William and Michael Page.

Norma is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles; children, Jesse James and wife, Dawn, Jerry James and wife, Sandy, and Colleena Whitely and husband, Rusty; brothers, Danny Page and wife, Beverly, Ricky Page and wife, Roberta; sister, Sue Parmenter and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Jessie Page; brother-in-law, George King, Jr.; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was born in Douglas County, and after marrying Charles, they moved to Iowa in 1964, and remained there raising her family until moving back to Missouri in 1991.

Norma made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bethel Church in Norwood.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, feeding her birds, and especially giving cookies to the squirrels. But most of all, loved and enjoyed time with her family and friends.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and have many wonderful memories of special times we had together.
