Janice Elaine (James) Foster, 73, of Viola, Arkansas passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Salem, Arkansas. Jan was born August 1, 1950, to Willard Oneil “Danny” James and Ezma Louisa (Baker) James in Gassville, Arkansas.

Jan was united in marriage to John Claude Foster on June 2, 1968, in Vidette, Arkansas. Jan spent her working years as a CNA, LPN, and then a RN. Jan also worked with J.C. taking care of the farm and the dairy. She loved her family, traveling, thrifting, hiking, pickleball, and being in the country. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and was a member of the Elizabeth Church of Christ in Elizabeth, Arkansas.

Jan leaves to mourn her passing: husband, J.C. Foster of Viola, Arkansas; two daughters, Johnna Guffey of Salem, Arkansas and Amanda “Mandy” Foster of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Clay Guffey, Josie Guffey, and Jacee Guffey of Moody, Missouri; great granddaughter, Amelia Guffey of Moody, Missouri; brother, Willard James of Kansas City, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Frankie and Randy James) and two sisters (Faye Slade and Beverly Baker).

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. J. R. Camp officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Tuesday , October 17, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Clay Guffey, Mic Guffey, Chad Foster, Casey Sanders, Ed Goates, and Mark Montgomery. Memorials may be given to Children’s Homes Inc. in Paragould, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
